  • ¾ cup of granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup of brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of cherry Hershey kisses, unwrapped
  • ½ cup of chopped cherries (fresh or canned)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Preheating ensures even baking for your cookies.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped cherries and mix gently to avoid breaking them up too much.
  6. Drop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet.
  8. Press a cherry Hershey kiss into the center of each cookie while they are still warm. This will help the kisses adhere to the cookies.
  9. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
