Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large yams, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Boil the yams in a large pot of salted water for about 10 minutes or until slightly tender but still firm. Drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and water. Cook until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.
- Arrange the yams in a baking dish and pour the sugar mixture over them, making sure to coat the yams evenly.
- Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the yams are tender and the sauce is thick and caramelized.
- Serve warm and enjoy the sweet, savory goodness!
Notes
- For extra richness, you can add a handful of chopped pecans or walnuts in the last 10 minutes of baking.
- Make sure the yams are not too soft before baking, as they will continue to cook and soften in the oven.
