Description

Try this delicious Chinese string beans recipe from Tales Of A Kitchen, perfect for a quick, flavorful, and healthy meal. Ideal for any Asian cuisine lover.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound string beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the String Beans: Wash and trim the string beans. Cut them into 2-inch pieces if they are too long.
  2. Blanch the String Beans: In a large pot of boiling water, blanch the string beans for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and water. Set aside.
  4. Sauté the Aromatics: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the Chinese garlic green beans and ginger and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Cook the String Beans: Add the blanched string beans to the skillet and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes. Pour in the sauce mixture and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the beans are well-coated and heated through, about 2-3 minutes. If using, add the red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a splash of rice vinegar or a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
  • This dish pairs perfectly with steamed rice or noodles.
