If the thought of raw broccoli in your smoothie has you running in the opposite direction, wait just a minute. I won’t try to convince you of its mighty healthy powers (<- that is a bit of a lie, after all we are talking about broccoli, one of nature’s best foods). I will just tell you a secret: you can hide your broccoli in your smoothie. Pulverize it to oblivion if you wish, top it with banana, almond milk and honey to sweeten the result, but just add broccoli. Start with just a bit and then gradually increase the amounts to 1 cup of broccoli per serving/smoothie.
Why 1 cup? This amount will give you amazing antioxidant benefits: about twice the daily recommended amount of vitamin C and half of vitamin A. It will also give you plenty of calcium, iron, fiber, phosphorous, potassium, zinc, magnesium. Impressed yet? Cooking your broccoli will cause some of the vitamins to be lost as they leak into the water. The more you cook it, the more it will leak and lose its powers. And who needs a powerless broccoli?!
Hide your raw broccoli in your smoothie because your broccoli hides A LOT of vitamins and minerals within it. Make it a regular habit and it will help you detoxify your body, helping it to be healthy and to fight infection and disease.
