If you’re eating clean during the week and see the weekend as the perfect time to indulge (or overindulge!) on nasties, chew on this: the weekend makes up for roughly 30% of the week! 30% of our time. 30% of all the opportunities we have to nourish our bodies. There’s so many ways to phrase this to express just how important these two little (too short!) days are. I’d even go as far as to say the weekend makes up for 30% of our health. Gasp. That’s a pretty big chunk.
I see the weekend as the perfect opportunity to make healthy choices a habit. Because it’s easier, because I’m not as time pressed, time poor or time stressed. There’s simply more time for me! And the easiest healthy habit of all is making sure I have a nourishing breakfast. Some mornings I go for green smoothies (that’s most mornings actually). Some mornings I go for smoothie bowls topped up with all the good stuff. Or free range farm eggs (poached) on a good freshly baked wholemeal slice of bread, with tomato and avocado on the side. If I’m particularly lucky, B. whips up his legendary Shakshuka which I like to serve with a fresh spinach salad and boy oh boy I’m a happy (healthy) camper.
This morning is a green bliss green smoothie kinda morning.
